Cassidy Kilgrave has been watched by the witches of Riverside since she was a child. The guardian of Coven Alkiri died thirty years ago, leaving the coven defenseless, and the witches believe that Cassidy is the new guardian. She is the Caomhnóir, the protector, and will shelter the coven and the community from evil. Since the dawn of time, powerful magic has protected the world from malevolent forces and Cassidy is destined to continue this tradition.

Evil is rising and the witches need their guardian to do her job. The Caomhnóir needs to protect the Great City and the people of the Inland Empire. A war is coming. A battle between good and evil, between the forces of light and dark.
