Jacob’s Ladder and his Dream. On Route From Beersheba to Jerusalem, From Luz To Haran. DECODING JACOB’S DREAM Priority - Continuous Legacy - Religious Experience – Assurances | Loyalty to The Program For Jacob, talking to God, or just trying to contact him, was a measure of priority. He needed assurances that the deal is on, the real estate pact with Good will be fulfilled, the Canaan land will be received. He did not want a heartbroken and be left without land and real-estate. He wanted to go along in his life, be loyal, with the assurance that God will fulfill. He did not have a Plan B. Priority was a must, in a time in human history, where no Institutions were present. God was the only institution, the only opportunity. He, Jacob, just wanted a good life, a good family, and needed assurances. He could not ask around. He’s only communication was a transcendental type, spiritual, immaterial: no phone call, no fax, no email, no social media. Spiritual, believing, as only the religion can bring you. Continuous legacy was another “must” on his time, on that places. Legacy was a measure of leaving something to the next generation, an embryonic religion, some basic traditions, some unwritten commandments, a contract. Science was not a big factor then. Only God will be there for Jacob & Co.: going on the ladder to meet him, was as much investigative at that time. And with God presence comes a religious experience. Some of these revelations are off limits, some were achievable. Meeting with angels and messengers of the God’s Household, was a spiritual measure of contact with God, an assurance. Maybe he wanted to give a special “thank-you” to God? Because, days in and days out God & real estate (the land of Canaan) were in his (Jacob’s) mind. Anyway, this [his dream] experience was personalized, and he owns it. Going up the ladder was assurance! He needed assurances. But what are assurances, in a time when life was so fragile, when nature elements were so harsh on human body, where nowhere was safe? Maybe Jacob needed a physical assurance that the real estate and the protection will be granted. There is difference between see something in physical and believing something spiritual. You need strength to believe all the time and see no action, no rewards. There is a difference and there is dilemma between physical position and spiritual aspirations. Aspiration, devotion involute, presume loyalty as well to the program (religion) to the deity. This loyalty must be rewarded in some way, spiritual and even better, in something physical way. Jacob did not to upstage God. He just needed and assurance. He human spirit is flawed, and they (the humans) prefer something physical, a physical currency. For every action, contract, there is a need for a reward. Jacob, as spiritual was he, was human after all, connected to land and physical things around him: he was looking for an assurance and a reward for his loyalty to God! Key Words: God of Abraham, Torah, Tanakh, Midrash, Book of Genesis, Biblical patriarch Jacob, Departing Beersheba, Bethel: the House of God, Jerusalem, human souls, virtues, sins, affairs of men, reincarnation, collective souls, interpretation of dreams, heaven, earth, heavens, religion.
