Australia held a national day of mourning for the victims of the Bondi attack, with 15 pillars of light illuminated across the country and a minute's silence observed nationwide. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese delivered a formal apology for failing to protect the community, whilst families shared video tributes to the 15 people killed, including 10-year-old Matilda. Heroes of the attack, including Ahmed al Ahmed and 14-year-old Chaya who shielded children despite being shot, received standing ovations at a commemoration ceremony at the Sydney Opera House.
