An emotional loom for SOCIAL WORK
This book was born in the years 2018 and 19, during the research carried out for my doctoral thesis " Training and Professional Practice of Social Work in Two Contexts: Germany and Mexico", Study of a Case in Each Country and its Triangulation. Which starts from the questioning of a globalized world without borders, in which governments have been overwhelmed by multiple social factors such as demographic growth, societies marked by mobilization (migration), the growing increase in poverty and the pandemic that not only affects the health of the population, but also brings with it an economic imbalance, unemployment, social instability, desolation of the population, and an infinity of emotional, personal, family and social problems in which , without a doubt a social worker is involved. With a significant impact on the physical and emotional health of colleagues who work in the health areas, to whom I want to dedicate this work, with the sole purpose of contributing to my commitment as a social worker, to those who daily face these emotions of helplessness in the face of the multiple human needs of our population.
It is mainly aimed at meeting the needs for emotional strength and resilience that are revealed in my research, and that are faced daily by social work professionals in the exercise of their profession. To the students of the social work career and to the academics in charge of training the social workers of the future.
Therefore, this book represents the opportunity to knock on more doors and reach all those beings interested in facing adversity with STRENGTHS, EMOTIONAL AND INTELLIGENCE, making use of their own resources and becoming RESILIENT beings.
This book consists of four sections, the first of which presents a diagnosis of the Emotions of the social worker, as a result of the research, what the social worker feels and the type of emotions he experiences on a daily basis. The second section is dedicated to the analysis and knowledge of Resilience, the theories, the components of resilience and its application to social work, answering the questions: What does it mean to be resilient? Because resilience is a fundamental loom and tool for the social worker and the importance of emotional management and control. The third part of this book focuses on describing the emotional threads that control me, for which it is necessary to get to the origin of my emotions, and see how this past affects my professional present. A relevant part of this section is intended to learn some techniques to face and weave the learning of resilience and the need as professionals and as people to generate a change in my attitudes and emotions in order to be a resilient professional. As the final part of the book, we unite the importance of this knowledge with the "Professional Mission and Resilience" linked to the educational function of social work, and how resilience education can become an emotional LOOM that allows us to tie the emotional threads, identify the weakest ones and strengthen them through the revised techniques, or the implementation by social workers of creativity and their resources to apply others. To end the book I present our professional ethical mission and the commitment to share the benefits of resilience with others. In addition, this is an interactive book which allows us to establish communication and professional connection with a goal of constant updating.
