Global X outage hits thousands amid Grok controversy

Social media platform X experienced a global outage affecting hundreds of thousands of users across the US, UK, Canada and Australia, with more than 6,000 Australian users reporting error messages. The outage occurred during the same week that owner Elon Musk faced controversy over his AI tool Grok producing sexualised AI imagery, prompting a UK government-supported investigation into potential breaches of UK law. The system has since been restored, though the cause of the outage remains unexplained.
