Man seriously burnt after car explodes in Kelmscott police chase

A man in his 30s sustained serious burns after a police pursuit in Kelmscott ended with his vehicle becoming bogged on Railway Avenue. Police allege the driver doused himself with accelerant before officers negotiated and arrested him, after which the vehicle exploded in flames that spread to the man. He was rushed to Fiona Stanley Hospital where he is in serious but stable condition, and a critical incident investigation has been launched.
