A 13-year-old boy from Wyong on the Central Coast has been charged with orchestrating a dozen hoax 'swatting' calls to US emergency services, triggering active shooter responses at schools, universities and retailers across America. The teenager allegedly made the calls from a soundproof booth in his bedroom while his parents believed he was gaming, with the AFP arresting him in December following a tip-off from the FBI. He faced Wyong Children's Court pleading not guilty to 12 serious charges and has been granted strict conditional bail with a ban on accessing computers.
