We do love our Zom Rom Coms. Shaun of the Dead, Warm Bodies, Life after Beth, Burying the Ex, all good. All funny in their own way. All with their unique charm. And then there is this... 2014, Night of the Living Deb.
It stars Maria Thayer as the incredibly awkward, infuriatingly so at times, Deb, and Michael Cassidy (Jimmy Olsen in Batman v Superman and Sgt Kelly in Army of the Dead) as organic produce eating, bike riding, eco-friendly traditionally handsome Ryan.
After a 4th July party hookup Deb wakes in Ryan's bed (fully clothed thankfully), and after some very awkward behaviour (too awkward, what she says and what she does, smashing things by accident) they head out to find their are in the middle of a zombie outbreak.
Despite her character being over the top in all ways, the movie is quite funny in places, look out for the graffiti gag, and mom's phone call. Reading the reviews it is polarising, people loved it, or people hated it, and the reason they hated it was Deb's character. People were 7/10 or 2/10, and I am going for 5.5 as I think it was watchable, once you got used to her forced awkwardness, and he was great. Nice little new take on the outbreak too at the end. Decent cast. I'd recommend it if you like ZOM ROM COMS.
