JFK's GAMBIT is a sequel to the Cuban Missile Conflict. The premise of JFK's GAMBIT is how the United States and World History may have changed if the assassination of John f Kennedy never happened. JFK and LBJ did not get along well. Significantly, LBJ would not have become President on November 22, 1963.

Would Kennedy have retained LBJ to maintain the balance of the ticket in 1964 to assuage the Southern Democrats? Would a different southern politician be a desirable substitute, one more akin to JFK’s philosophy? Or would the replacement of LBJ cause a massive defection of conservative southern Democrats, recreating the Dixiecrats fielding a separate presidential ticket as they did in 1948?

What about the Republicans? How would they react, and who would be their candidate?
