Melbourne's new Westgate Tunnel has officially opened to traffic, surprising drivers who weren't expecting the launch until 7am when it actually began operating at 2:30am. The $10 billion infrastructure project, the largest road development completed in Melbourne in almost 30 years, aims to remove 9,000 trucks daily from suburban streets in the city's inner west.
