Episode 36!
Excited today to be joined by Dr. Lee Bell from Sheffield Hallam University in the UK. Dr. Bell has worked with many names listeners will recognize on the podcast from Doctors, PAK, James Fisher, James Steele, Milo Wolf and others.
Originally my thought for this episode was to discuss overtraining and deloading with Dr. Bell... which we did. But along the way we branched into a variety of other interesting topics, such as creating working scientific definitions within exercise, and personal auto-regulation for lifting. I think you'll find this episode is for you if you're serious about lifting and serious about understanding scientific exercise literature and the concepts within.
Dr. Bell is very upfront that exercise science is a branch of research that is lacking in many ways, but also has so much to share and give to the community. This was one of my favorite discussions I've had in a while, even though it didn't take the path I originally foresaw. I know you will enjoy it as well!
If you'd like to get in touch with Lee feel free to give him a follow on Instagram (HERE).
If you've ever thought about adding to your own home gym, there's a brand I'm a huge fan of that I couldn't recommend more highly. Temple of Gainz is a California based company that's making waves in the home gym space with some of the best products on the market.
They recently launched one of the most exciting designs on kick starter, the "QuadSend", which Dave and I discuss a little bit in this episode as well. It's currently on pre-order on Kickstarter and has already raised of $500,000!!!! This leg piece is unlike any other on the market. If you're looking for something built like a tank that will last FOREVER, this is the leg machine you've been waiting for!
Their thoughtful designs inspired by great machines of the past are constantly being innovated and improved. Their customer service is top notch and they have some of the most competitive prices in the space with their direct to consumer shipping (which is free if you spend more than $1500). Whether you own a small studio or want to create the ultimate home gym, you should give Temple of Gainz a try!
