Carol Platt Liebau: The Genocide We're Not Hearing About

It’s impossible to turn on the news without hearing about alleged genocide in Gaza. In fact, there’s an actual genocide happening in Nigeria, but since it doesn’t involve Israel bashing, the legacy media doesn’t seem to care.

According to Nigeria-based civil society watchdog Intersociety, more than 7,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria in 2025 alone. More than a hundred twenty-five thousand have been slaughtered just since two thousand nine.

Nigeria has become the headquarters for 22 Islamic terror groups, including ISIS and Boko Haram. The attacks on Christians are said to be shocking, with men being murdered and the women kidnapped and brutally raped.

It’s time for the US to designate Nigeria a country of particular concern — along with the economic sanctions and diplomatic measures that can entail. The genocide of Christians in Nigeria must end.
