The Hurricane Hunters will fly into a weakened Hurricane Erin Wednesday

A state of emergency has been declared in North Carolina as Hurricane Erin whips up huge waves and life-threatening rip currents. The storm weakened to a Category 2 storm on Tuesday as its north side battled winds, but the National Hurricane Center says the storm has reformed an inner eye wall. A Hurricane Hunter mission this morning will help determine if winds have increased.
