Without farming and cultivation, the world population would never exist because humans live on food consumption, work and prayer. Without food, work and prayer there is no human existence. All humans live because they eat food and food is produced from farms by people who cultivate their farms to feed themselves and others after they have produced excess in their farms.

From long ago Ameru of Kenya were farmers and builders of the Pyramids in Egypt the country of their origin after they had crossed the Red Sea from the Middle East where they were created by God. In Egypt they learnt gathering and they also specialized in Pyramids construction. They escaped from Egypt because they refused to surrender the secrets of Pyramids building to the rulers who wanted to acquire the expertise. Ameru were also skilled farmers and had also acquired leadership and governance skills while in Egypt. Today, Ameru have good leaders who were brought up in democracy which is the art of Ameru since time immemorial.

Ameru had lived in Mboa (Manda Island) Kenya from AD 1100 to around AD 1650 when they escaped from the hunters’ nets and webs for slavery for export to Americas. In their era in Manda Island, Kenya they had improved their farming methods to high standards which enabled them to preserve food for their long journey when they escaped from their enemies. Ameru had knowledge that honey is a preservative of food for long periods of time.

Ameru through their long journeys in their different Epochs of migrations from Egypt through Nubialand, Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania to Manda Island, Kenya had learnt that many plants were cure for various ailments that affected them during their long journeys. Ameru gathered various crops which they collected along their epic journey to Meru in 17th, Century. They also had marked various plants which they noted were medicinal in nature that contributed to their survival in their epic journey from Egypt to Mboa and from Mboa to Meru.

We have mentioned some of those plants and crops here for the young generations to note and learn their importance among Ameru people’s lives for the generations to come.
