    13:55 Google holds illegal monopolies in ad tech, US judge finds

    • The Department of Justice has won a ruling against Google, paving the way for U.S. antitrust prosecutors to seek a breakup of its ad products.
    • Google was found liable for willingly acquiring and maintaining monopoly power in markets for publisher ad servers and the market for ad exchanges, which sit between buyers and sellers.
    • Now, hearings will be scheduled to determine what Google must do to restore competition in those markets, such as selling off parts of its business.
    • US AG Pamela Bondi called the ruling “a landmark victory in the ongoing fight to stop Google from monopolizing the digital public square.”
    • Google says it will appeal the ruling, pointing out that it won half the case.
    • The DOJ says that Google should have to sell off at least its Google Ad Manager, which includes the company’s publisher ad server and ad exchanges.
