Dalen Reese, Detroit’s greatest Private Eye, is back, and this time he’s working without his partners, Ian Parker or Robert Stonewall. During the height of the Covid pandemic, a young barista from The Coffee Cabin fails to report to work and Dalen jumps into action to find out where she is. He enlists the assistance of his friend Picasso, one of the most feared men in the Motor City, Nomar, a new friend with more questions than answers, and his eager friend Morrison, to help find Pasha. Along the way, Dalen meets a young boy named Rico whose mother is involved with a crime family and is stuck in a situation she can’t get out of.
Dalen and his friends find themselves entwined in a web of drugs, kidnapping, prostitution, and the mob. Can they trust the people they meet during the investigation or will they get stuck in more sticky situations than they can handle? Dalen and company race the clock, while those they suspect to be the villains are encroaching on Dalen’s home territory. Are Dalen’s new friends who they appear to be? Will Dalen, Nomar, Picasso, and Morrison find Pasha, bring down the mob, and save those they love, before their lives get too tangled up to survive?
