FULL COLOUR 30th ANNIVERSARY RECORD EDITION
Rosco McGlashan is an icon of drag racing and an Australian land speed record holder. This book tells the unbelievable and remarkable story of his life. I believe it is one of the best motorsports biographies and land speed record books you will ever read. Told in 370 action-packed pages with 160 incredible colour photos of Rosco's life, cars and racing career.
His early years were very tough. He spent time in state-run homes and remand centres, eventually driving away from his home and school at twelve after a run-in with his family and headmaster. He drives north in Western Australia to find work, increasing his age from twelve to sixteen, to fund his racing career.
He fought everyone and everything and at seventeen, ended up in prison and solitary confinement. Once released, his salvation comes through his love of speed and raw horsepower. He focuses his fighting spirit and energy on racing and going very fast.
His V8 drag bike and jet dragsters take him to racing tracks all over Australia, the USA and New Zealand. These races lead to amazing, funny adventures and stories that will leave you wanting more.
Later, his motorsport career takes him to other countries. Rosco gets kidnapped by the Russian Mafia whilst trying to buy two MIG jet fighter engines, and he fights his way out. He crashed a car at close to 600 mph (960 km/h) and also clinically died on an operating table when another car he was racing went off a mountain track. He was revived and went on to win many motor racing titles and break land speed records.
On his journey, he meets racing legends and encounters mass murderers and world leaders. He then casually chats with the Dalai Lama, who sits in one of his cars, making motor racing noises and shaking the steering wheel.
Rosco's unstoppable ambition and refusal to give up sees him turn his attention to breaking the world land speed record and wanting to be the fastest man on the planet. He wants the Australian and world records, a goal he set himself as a young man.
Rosco and the Aussie Invader team are putting the finishing touches to their latest record-breaker, the world's fastest and most powerful car, the Aussie Invader 5R. This land speed car has 200,000 horsepower, the power of 200 Formula One cars and can accelerate from zero to supersonic in twenty seconds. If you like reading motivational books with inspiring stories about chasing your dreams, this book is for you. Quitting is not in Rosco's motor racing DNA.
