The many pastimes of the lives of the Vaishnava saints and sages are quite fascinating and provide much inspiration and instruction. Many miraculous activities and important events are recorded in connection to such saints, and many insights are provided in how to make progress in spiritual life by following their examples or studying their teachings.
There have been a number of books published about the saints of India, but some of the most important of the Vaishnava saints have been overlooked. This is why this book presents the brief biographies of over 75 of these personalities that did much to spread the teachings of the Vaishnava philosophy across India and eventually the world, and show and teach us the means to attain its goal.
These include such early saints as Vysadeva, Vallabhacarya, Ramanujacharya, Madhvacharya, Nimbarkacarya, Prabodhananda Sarasvati, and many others like Sri Chaitanya, Sri Nityananda, Baladeva Vidyabhushana, Rupa and Sanatana Gosvami, Lokanatha Das Gosvami, Ishvara Puri, Narottama das Thakur, Vishvanatha Cakravarti Thakur, Vrindavana das Thakur, Jiva Gosvami, and more recent ones such as Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur, Gaura Kishora dasa Babaji, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, and Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
Herein we can get a glimpse into their lives of dedication, their characteristics, strengths, the challenges they may have faced, and the means of their success, all of which gives us great teachings from their exemplary lives.
