When I first started talking openly about my faith and my love for nudism, I noticed people’s eyebrows doing this little dance. Some shot up so high they nearly disappeared into their hairlines, and others furrowed like they were trying to solve a math problem. I’d usually grin and say, “Don’t worry, honey, it’s not contagious—it’s just freedom!” That usually broke the ice, but it also reminded me how deeply most of us have been taught to associate nudity with sin, shame, or something you have to whisper about behind closed doors.

As someone who loves Jesus with all my heart, I’ve spent a good chunk of my life studying what different Christian groups actually say about nudity. You’d be surprised at how many different opinions there are—and how many of them are based more on culture than Scripture. Growing up, I thought “Christian modesty” meant hiding every curve and covering every inch, but when I started reading the Bible for myself, I found a story that began with naked people walking in perfect peace with God in a garden. Adam and Eve weren’t ashamed until sin entered the picture, and that’s always stuck with me. It wasn’t their skin that caused shame—it was disobedience.

John and I, being the joyful nudists we are, have had our share of curious questions and side glances at church picnics. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had someone ask me, “But doesn’t the Bible say to cover up?” And I’ll smile and say, “Let’s talk about what it really says.” That’s why I wanted to write this book—to have those conversations openly, kindly, and maybe with a little humor along the way.

So here’s what we’re going to do together. We’re going to walk through the major Christian denominations, one by one, and take a friendly peek at what they teach, how they interpret Scripture on nudity, and where there might be room for a little more grace and understanding. I’ll sprinkle in stories from my own life—church meetings, retreats, and those awkward-but-holy moments that taught me more about God’s freedom than any lecture ever could.
