You give your opinion with good intentions… and someone gets offended.
You're tired of conflicts in your family over silly misunderstandings.
At work, you feel like your conversations are stagnating or generating tension.
It's always the same: you struggle to make yourself understood, even when you speak with good intentions. Every conversation ends in arguments, judgments, or painful silences.
Nothing odd is happening to you. Most of us repeatedly stumble upon an invisible obstacle: we haven't been taught to understand each other. We don't know how to talk to others, nor how to listen.
Does this statement surprise you? I understand. We believe that talking to others is something natural, spontaneous, something we learn and that doesn't require any training.
But you're completely wrong. We all have this false belief. That's why we do what everyone else does, and this is how it goes: we speak from our own little universe of prejudices and beliefs, from an inability to put ourselves in other people's shoes.
We are dedicated to judging without foundation, and also to condemning unjustly. Without evidence or information, based only on clues, we issue verdicts and sentences.
It's time you opened your eyes: communication has nothing to do with this approach. Knowing how to communicate and knowing how to listen are two very different things: they require learning and training.
The Art of Understanding Each Other is your roadmap, the book that will take you from constant misunderstandings to getting along with your family, your friends, and also with your coworkers, your bosses, your colleagues...
I wrote The Art of Understanding Each Other based on my professional and life experience. I have spent many years leading teams, so I had no choice but to learn the principles of good communication: In the business world, leadership is not possible without good communication.
It hasn't been an easy path. I've made mistakes, and I've also read a lot on the subject. All of this has prepared me to write this book, a sure guide for you to truly communicate in all areas of your life: misunderstandings will disappear from your life, and you'll know what the art of persuasion truly consists of.
I'll give you the steps to follow, the path you'll take thanks to The Art of Understanding Each Other:
1. The first step will be to learn to avoid a fundamental error: making unfounded judgments.
2. Once you stop judging others, you'll learn to make yourself heard, but avoiding arrogance or superiority. This is a second mistake you'll learn to avoid. You'll be able to make yourself understood without imposing yourself or hurting others.
3. But this isn't enough. You'll have to learn to listen. Forget about automatic and immediate responses. Stay silent and listen very carefully.
4. Once you learn how to listen, you will discover what lies behind the arguments of others, those arguments you despise because you believe you are in possession of the truth. A previously hidden universe will appear before you: the problems and beliefs of others.
5. Then, and only then, will you be ready to learn how to use the master key that opens all doors, the one that smooths the paths of communication. I invite you to discover it in The Art of Understanding Each Other. It's time to leave misunderstandings and tensions behind.
