The Urantia Book refers to itself as an epochal revelation, one of five to have appeared on our planet, Urantia. It describes, in detail, the central and superuniverses, the local universe, the history of Urantia, and the life and teachings of Jesus, the latter being the fourth epochal revelation. John 1:4, referring to Jesus, states: “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” Had we a modern John, he would have likely proclaimed this about the fifth epochal revelation: “And the Word was made book.” The authorship and origin of this 2,100-page revelation from higher beings are shrouded in mystery and have been the subject of much controversy since its publication in 1955.In Revelation Validation: An Investigation into the Origin of The Urantia Book, author Philip Geiger delves into the question of how what many consider to be divine words made it into printed form. He explores various origin stories of The Urantia Book. He brings a unique perspective, rooted in his own encounters with what he calls the "ultra-terrestrial" beings whom the book credits for its materialization, to offer an origin story that uses as its framework a hundred years of oral and written accounts by individuals who were closely involved in the book's development. As documentation, Geiger provides 86 mostly hyperlinked endnotes in the electronic version and 28 footnotes—all with an eye to providing future investigators with a handy reference tool so that they might more efficiently come to their own conclusions.
