On a remote Wisconsin island at the edge of Lake Michigan, life moves at its own pace—until the shadow of Prohibition arrives. After his mother’s death, teenage immigrant Sean O’Reilly comes to Washington Island seeking the stability of family, only to find himself living with his uncle Finn, a charming tavern owner whose livelihood depends on moonshine, misdirection, and moral shortcuts. As Sean adapts to the rhythms of the island, he becomes both a participant in and a witness to Finn’s quiet defiance of the law.

Through first love, faith, and an unexpected sense of belonging, Sean’s presence begins to expose the hidden emotional cost of his uncle's choices. When Prohibition finally becomes the law of the land, the stakes shift from simple survival to a deeper moral crisis; Finn is forced to reckon not only with the collapse of his business, but with the weight of being the only man the boy has left to look up to.
