Between the Mountains of the Horns, licked into existance by the world-cow Udumla, lie the Middle Lands, bounded by the Great River and by the frozen northern Kingdom of the mystical Erl-King. Once a place of much feuding and fighting, the folk of these lands now participate only in gentle competition....as they celebrate the seasons in their distinctive little towns tucked between the peaks and the water. But it is hard to live normally when you are in a world populated with trolls and goblins and child-eating witches, to say nothing of hairy Krampus who carries off wicked children, the giant egg laying hares of Eggerlund and the haunted pumpkin patches ruled by the Great Mother Pumpkin. And one thing the Middle Lands produce more than all else are brave bold girls and boys, all eager to go adventuring...
