The Straight Scoop on the Questions That Make You Blush

Why do I feel turned on when breastfeeding?

Could an epidural paralyze me?

Am I awful for feeling sad my baby isn’t the sex I’d hoped for?

In this comprehensive new book, doula and birth educator Bailey Gaddis offers frank girlfriend talk and expert advice about pregnancy, childbirth, and early motherhood. During her own pregnancy, Bailey had many unanswered questions she felt were too taboo or embarrassing to ask. To help other women have a more informed, less cringey experience, she went on to train as a birth professional, and her work has inspired this book. Bailey consulted with medical experts and psychologists to ensure accurate answers to the featured questions, and she presents her sought-after expertise to you with thoughtfulness and humor. Her accurate, nonjudgmental answers to even the most embarrassing or scary questions will help guide you through pregnancy and the first weeks of motherhood with greater calm and confidence.

The Only Book You Need to Prepare for Birth & Baby

I'm a birth educator and prenatal care provider, and I've had so many clients privately ask me many of the questions in this book - questions about how stress actually impacts the baby, the low down on all the leaking fluids from everywhere, why pregnancy dreams so crazy, what to do if they aren't comfortable with their midwife or OB, all the potential issues with relationships and sex during all the phases, moving through the fear of birth and motherhood, all the weird stuff newborns do that freak us out, and really delicate situations like being sad about the birth experience and dealing with all the insensitive things people can say. Bailey goes deep into the heart of so many nuanced aspects of this experience and offers so many ah-ha moments.

She uses a great mix of birth and postpartum research, many years of professional experience as a childbirth educator and doula, and personal stories from her hospital and home births. And the appendix is amazing (something I've never written before!) - it includes spot-on tips for quality self-care, relaxation in particular, simple definitions of terms women will hear but might not know what they mean, and other resources specific to different types of support women might need. I've been so excited for this book to come out on audio and I tell all my clients that are too busy to read to skip all the noise of chat groups and social media and just listen to this book.

A Fun, Funny, And Super Informative Must Listen

GREAT BOOK! The author writes in a really fun personal tone so when she’s actually reading it to you it feels like she’s a chill, super-informed, nonjudgmental friend hanging out on the couch with you sharing everything you actually want to know about pregnancy to motherhood. I laughed, cried and found myself constantly nodding along during this book. It made me feel so much less alone but also way more informed as she backs up her stuff with legit studies she’s able to present in a non-boring way. Honestly this is the most entertaining science-backed book I’ve ever read.

And the questions. Wow! She’s answering the questions women are actually asking themselves and few people are willing or able to answer in a dignified but fun and super honest way!

Oh! And it’s a must to go to baileygaddis.com/asking and download the PDF that goes with the audio.

I if you’re pregnant or supporting someone who is, you must BUY THIS BOOK!!

Beloved and Approved By Midwives

I first found Bailey after reading her first book Feng Shui Mommy. Her writing style was so fun, clear, and humble it felt like she was reading the book to me. So to be able to then listen to her second book was such a treat. She goes over all the questions a pregnant woman could possibly have and encourages a release of shame by sharing her own, raw stories. She really goes there and it makes the book so much more relatable. You don't feel like someone is telling you how you're supposed to do pregnancy, birth, and parenting, but someone is sharing interesting info with you and helping you figure out what path feels best to you. Because of this I recommend both of Bailey's books to my clients (I'm a midwife) and many of my colleagues do as well.
