Managing nuisance aquatic vegetation consist physical, biological and chemical methods. Among physical control, techniques such as mechanical operation from bank to the control of Aponogeton, Nymphaea, Nymphoides and Potamogeton, floating machinery for free-floating weeds such as Eichhornia sp. are in practice. Among chemical weedicides, flumioxazin (clipers) are widely used due to its broad spectrum activity, chemical herbicides are often applied with a gel adjuvant to increase its efficiency and avoid chemical wastage. Carps and Tilapia fishes are used in biological control methods; more specifically Cryptobagous singularis (weevil) in the control of Salvenia and many other disease-causing agents can also be used. By using all type of available methods integrated weed management has been conducted in many parts of the world such as while implementing construction of a dam, and water drop out method, fluoridone chemical and carp fishes are used to control selected weed variety biologically. Despite of the fact, weeds are commercially beneficial in several ways, for instance Azolla consists of Anabaena azolae a cyanobacterium which fixes atmospheric nitrogen is intensely used in paddy cultivation, many weed plants are collected for the production of compost fertilizer in many developing countries and cattail (Typha) used in production of paper. Cattail also can absorb heavy metals in water and acts as a biological filter.
