Good book a little too much lost cause philosophy for my taste

It’s a very good series. The author is a good writer. The stories interesting the reader has a great voice. My only problem is, it’s clearly written from a southern perspective, and I such basically stirs up all the anti-northern feelings could still cause problems with lots of people from the south they are virtually no characters in this book from the north they get a favorable treatment. It’s really too bad.

Appomatax--not the end...

What a terrific wrap up on a terrific series. I had not realize how long hostilities continued after Lee's surrender to Grant in the war of Northern Aggression. Getting all the family back together in a clean manner, then having them lose the farm to carpetbaggers and move to Texas was unexpected---and well done. Now he can write more about the Brannon's and their adventures!!! Read them all 10 novels!

A true masterpiece

Exceptional writing. It’s a long series, but it holds your attention throughout. Can’t think of any part I’d cut and sad it’s over. Could easily have another 10 book series picking up where this ends. Actually emailed author asking if he wrote about this family anymore. Said he had plans to, but his publisher at the time didn’t think it was a good idea. 🤯

A Very Good Ending

This "last" story does a very nice job of bringing family members thru the war - but as another reviewer points out - things are by no means resolved at the end of the book. I very much hope that the author writes some additional books on reconstruction because I will certainly buy them.
Very interesting how specific Brannons are placed in position to witness Lee's meeting with Grant and the John Wilkes Booth saga. And a touching and appropriate ending
I think it was nice that the author dedicates the book to those who read all 10 - now go write some more!!!!!!

Virtual reality in a written/spoken word

Absolutely amazing series of books. Great personal stories,great military stories and plenty of dramatic moments. The series at times allowed me to get lost in present and feel like living during that time,in that place. Especially today when our world/country is moving so fast from what once was normalcy.
