The story concerns two young men visting the United States from London. They meet a pair of charming women who return the visit the following year in London. Romantic intrigues, miscommunication and cultural gaffs are plentiful in this short but delightful novel.

Lovely writing by Henry James
I love how Henry James writes, and this book is no exception. His endings always surprise me, which is something I always appreciate, but other times he ends his stories before what I would wish for some of the characters.
