The fluidity of her writing. The details are so engaging. And of course the narrator is a legend

This story is engaging with real characters. It’s also filled with commentary on race in America through the main character’s lens. Well done, Chimamanda.

Great listen

The story is an eye opener. And I think listening to it had a greater effect as the narrator mastered the English Nigerian accent.

The shared realities of those impacted by migration remarkably and brilliantly narrated!

The storylines provided insight into and a real feel of what the characters grappled with. The narrator Adjoa and the various voices through their expressions and tonality helped invoke emotions, while commanding my attention throughout this book. I enjoyed reading the hardcopy and Loved listening to the audible version. Job well done 🎯

The ENTIRE Book is captivating.

I don’t think there are enough words to describe how relatable this book and its contents are. I think any immigrant with the idea of a shiny “America” can relate. At first I was disappointed it wasn’t read by the great Chimamanda but got over it a few chapters in. I must confess, I’ve had this book on my nightstand, I also have a hard copy, for a couple years always saying I would get to it. I’m only sorry that I took so long and that it’s at a critically devastating time in Chimamanda’s life. I will read this again and again. Efem has captured my heart.
