Resumen del Editor

London’s best and most covert spy tries to escape the man who has always adored her.

New York Times best-selling author Gail Carriger brings you a charming story of enduring love set in her popular Parasolverse, narrated by Emma Newman.

Intelligencer

Agatha Woosmoss, the Wallflower, is the greatest intelligencer of her generation. And no one knows she exists. She has been invisible, capable, and cunning for well over four decades. Her greatest skill is in her ability to go forever unnoticed. Except by one man.

Versus Intellectual

Pillover Plumleigh-Teignmott is a professor of ancient languages at Oxford University. He’s tried to ignore his training as an evil genius and live a quiet life away from politics and intrigue.

When an assignment goes horribly wrong, Agatha must hide and heal. So she goes to ground with the only person who’s always kept her safe: Pillover.

Can Pillover hold on to the deadly woman who specializes in getting away? Will Agatha realize that patience is indeed a virtue, and that perhaps it is good to be noticed by the one who waits?

Spinning off from Miss Gail’s Finishing School series, this story stands on its own and spans decades, but was written after Defy or Defend. May contain vampires, old injuries, lost love, and the reappearance of many favorite characters. If you like gruff but caring men with secret sorrows and the tough smart women they love, you’ll also enjoy How to Marry a Werewolf, also narrated by Emma.

slow burn and left me with tears in the end

it's a little different from the others, but it's a different type of story. Absolutely loved it.

A sudden audiobook allergy 😉

This is one of mu favourite books from this wonderful auther's pen. Maybe because it is written quite differantly, or just that I simply addor Agath and Pil as a couple.
I have to admit to quite a few moist eyes and a sniff or 3 too.

Two of my favorite people

Pillover and Agatha live long and interesting lives, apart and together. These unlikely favorite characters from my absolute favorite Carriger series, Finishing School, are well-drawn and believable in their finer details, and their story hits more personality notes that I can identify with than the more heroic Sophronia, for instance. Their desires and fears are less dramatic, but more relatable. I really enjoyed finding out what happened to them.

Real talk in a fairy tale

I’ve been a fan since Soulless and, although that series remains my favorite, I have carried on exploring this universe. I recommend this author to anyone who has need of a whimsical perspective on the very real workings of human nature, no matter how ridiculous it all may seem. Or that the characters themselves may not actually be human!

This book in particular seems very well written to me. It feeds my ongoing interest in the inhabitants of this world I’ve come to know, and delivers a poignant love story. I enjoyed it.

Remarkably my favorite romance

If you like slow burns - this is for you! At first I thought it was just a single flash back, so was confused when it continued being flashbacks. But my goodness once I had that figured out I felt like I was falling in love with their love. This felt most unlike the other books in the series, but I think one I will certainly listen to again and again just for the truly romantic love story.

Parasol proclivities prolonged

I love reading the backstories of back scene characters! Miss Carriger does not disappoint. It is not as all encompassing as the primary books, but having a fresh take on old favorites still manages to satisfy the longing for tea and espionage.

I love English Accents!

Emma Newman's performance of this short story was everything I expected and more. This story of Agatha and Pillover fits well in the Parasol Protectorate universe.

Amazing story and decent narrator

Story was amazing and atypical as far as love stories go. I felt like sobbing the entire time in that steady, quiet sob not meant from deep grief but for a mixture of equal part melancholy and heartache. They only downside is that I wish the narrator would have researched name pronunciations better as it does throw off those who have followed all the series in the universe.
