Very informative

I was very surprised at the amount of information in such a short listen, One of the best Alexa guides I have run across. The narrator did a good job of keeping you engaged in the audio. I was given a free copy of this audio in return for an unbiased review.

Basics and Beyond

This is an informative user guide for anyone that uses and Amazon Alexa or Echo Dot. I’ve been using Alex for over a year now and am still learning what she can do beyond the basics. This user guide goes over the basic commands as well as many other tips and tricks including color codes, syncing multiple Amazon accounts, FreeTime for Kids, and being able to play Skyrim. I also thought the Easter eggs were fun to try with my device.
J. Wesley Price did an okay job with this narration. He spoke in an informative and textbook like voice which was appropriate for this type of book.

there was a lot of things I learned from this book. I could probably look it up but now I have something to reference.

I Almost Dismissed This Guide -- So Glad I Didn't!

This review is for the audiobook version of Amazon Alexa User Guide: 2019 Essential User Guide for Amazon Echo and Alexa by Steve Alverson and narrated by J. Wesley Price.

Let me preface this review by stating that I'm already personally invested in the Amazon Alexa ecosystem and have augmented my Echo home set up with an array of smart plugs, Hue lighting, and other gadgets.

About 5 minutes in, I nearly gave up on the Alexa User Guide--it felt way to basic. I'm so glad that I didn't, however.

Beyond the basic Alexa commands, the Guide detailed color codes, smart home device set up and management, working with Alexa Skills (including building your own), as well as some Easter Eggs. I was really looking forward to learning something new and the Guide delivered.

J. Wesley Price did an adequate job as narrator. He made a couple of interesting pronunciation choices (e.g.: reading niche as "knee-shay" or matte as "matt-ay"). At times, the reading felt a little robotic and I wondered if he were an AI performing text-to-speech. That said, he was fine for the material.

I would easily recommend Alverson's Alexa Guide to anyone interested in Amazon's smart home environment.

Very imformative

This book was narrated by J. Weasley Price. J. Weasley Price's voice was perfect for this book. His voice helped me listen and continue listening. The book is very informative and very up to date. As a Alexa owner I am always interested in learning more that she can do. I can't wait to try out some of these great hints. This book would also be a great resource for someone who might be on the fence about whether Alexa is right for them.

Alexa user guide 2019

I found this very informative!I didn't think I would.My dot picked up on everything said in the guide and taught me a few things about ambient sleeping sounds.I'll be using that! I finally unplugged the dot so I could finish the audiobook. narration by J.Wesley Price was dry,not horrible,but could have been better. I was given this book by the narrator,author or publisher free for an honest review.

Informative and Useful

Even though I'm a millennial, I'm tech challenged. I was given an Echo Dot and somehow couldn't get it to work. Then I had the option to review this book. I took it. Now my echo works. So I'm happy. My only complaint is that the narrator sounds like I had a computer reading instead of a human narrator.

This book is a great guide for understanding the ways on how to use your Amazon Echo and Alexa. This is a made-easy book for beginners that find it hard to begin with the use of Amazon Echo and Alexa. With the help of this book, we'll easily get acquainted with the proper usage of our very own Alexa. This is a great user guide and manual. It helps a lot and makes the tasks easy. I am glad to purchase this book

excellent for beginners

So, I've been a long time Amazon Echo device user (1st gen) and picked this up out of curiosity. For the most part, I knew a lot of what was in here. That said, there were a few tips in here that I didn't know going in. I liked the section color codes and found the Easter eggs amusing. The narration was pretty generic, for the most part, but I found the narrator doesn't know how to pronounce certain words. I won't point them out, but they will be glaringly obvious as you listen. If you are a long time echo device user, I'd recommend skipping this one. I don't think you'll get enough out of it to justify the credit. If you are brand new, though, I would definitely recommend this book. Especially if you are setting up a smart home hub with your echo for the first time.

I received a free copy of this in exchange for an unbiased review. I dont have anything negative to say. Its full of good tips for echo owner. I just don't think audiobook is the right format for this. It would work better as something to read.
