Eighteen years later, her son enlists in the US Navy and is sent to Japan. Finally, he is set to meet his birth mother, but their reunion cracks open the pain and suffering Noriko has endured.

Great book!!

I took an interest in this book because I am a member of the Tenrikyo faith, the religion mentioned in this book. The accounts are accurate. Not only about the religion and what it stands for, but the scenes were accurate. As I read on, I could vividly see every scene. Loved this book.
