The Trump 2.0 Administration has done a couple of things that I have liked and some that have seriously impacted and hurt our nation. First and foremost, tariffs are a tax on the citizens of a nation, and “Liberation Day,” or April 2, 2025, has cost taxpayers a great deal of unnecessary money, disrupted economic activity, and made Americans much poorer. The Federal Reserve isn’t part of the US government, and despite it not being perfect, this is a good thing. Under the Constitution, the US government can only mint currency backed by silver or gold. We left the gold standard in 1971 under President Nixon. We need a national currency so we can trade throughout all fifty states in our nation, which can only be done with fiscal conservatism via a central private bank that isn’t beholden to constituents and lobbyists. Silver and gold are precious metals, which are limited in supply. This was written into the Constitution to restrain the US government and the inflation that will result from the fiscal profligacy that would follow if the executive, legislative, and judicial branches were allowed to print fiat currency in an unrestrained manner. The firing of Lisa Cook was a new low for the Trump 2.0 Administration, and we need to stop the infighting within local, state, and federal governments nationwide, and we must end the weaponized tariffs against our allies and trading partners, as they are highly unintelligent, illegal, and disrupting the American’s wealth and economic power. The Trump 2.0 Administration hasn’t been all bad, as they have eliminated nuclear threats in Iran and worked to end the Ukraine War. The smart play here is to end sanctions on people buying Russian crude and drive down the price of oil to below $41 a barrel so Russia loses money on each sale of discounted crude. As for the Trump 2.0 Administration, they should be concentrating on making trade deals with nations that increase the wealth of all Americans, bring jobs to the US, and don’t illegally tax American citizens. This can be done through diplomacy, which is a much smarter route. The Trump 2.0 Administration isn’t the first, nor will it be the last, government in Washington, DC, but all Americans must remember that the goal of every incoming and outgoing administration in the White House must be to have the objective of making the US socially, economically, and militarily stronger as well as making it a bastion of freedom in which people from all over the world can immigrate, have better lives, and enjoy the wealth and innovation of such a lovely and powerful nation. We haven’t seen this from the past or current administration, yet the Trump 2.0 Administration has three years left to achieve these goals. And, as Americans, we hope they do in conjunction with strengthening our relationship with our allies, as we are no better than our neighbors and global partners. Moving ahead, these objectives can’t be forgotten!
