Resumen del Editor

Among the New-new Order Amish of Oakland, Maryland, children bring precious hope, joy - and sometimes an unexpected second chance at love....

For Amish widower Phillip Baker, providing for his family in the wake of his wife's death means back-breaking work and renewed dedication to his faith. Still, his strength can't help him relate to his little son's struggles. It seems a godsend when new doctor Emily White is able to treat Gabe's shyness and fear even as she helps heal him. But no matter how strongly Phillip is drawn to the caring Englisher from the city, their differences may be too great to overcome....

Reeling from her own tragic loss, Emily keeps loneliness at bay through her clinic work. Somehow, though, Gabe and his gentle, sad-eyed father are making her want to risk opening her heart again. But can she find acceptance in their Plain world - and a way to turn their separate lives into a family forever?

Great story I enjoyed reading it.

This was a really good story. I enjoyed listening to it and would recommend it to pretty much all ages except perhaps the very young. The narrator is not the greatest at pronouncing Pennsylvania Dutch but that is OK with me. I appreciated that she took the time in narrating the book. I realize that these volunteers are volunteers and I am thankful that she volunteers her time. She did a great job reading the story otherwise. The part was really sad about Pete. Life is truly like the grass it is here today and gone tomorrow. We never know when it could be taken from us this story took me back to a time in my life, not so long ago. I want to enjoy those precious moments in life and this book was another precious, precious reminder.

Absolutely fabulous

I love Amish fiction but this book was so different and so good!!

I loved the new order Amish setting , the characters were fabulous ! The twists the turns , the story, the way Loree made you laugh, get angry and cry was amazing !

I didn’t want it to end ! Great book!!!

Enjoyable story!

This is not a deep book, but was good for a light, enjoyable diversion. The plot centers around an Amish family and the Dr who treats their sick child, who is not Amish. There are lots of contrasts between the Amish characters and the doctor, and her family. There is romance, but it's a very clean book.
