I think it important for the public to understand that 18th century African Americans were not all enslaved and even those who were exercised agency. I thought this was an important aspect of the piece. While I appreciated the excerpt from Equiano's book, I felt that the piece could have been a little more in depth with respect to the life of Equiano and his political influence.
