Acerca de esta escucha
Brought to you by Penguin.
'From what is it they flee?'
He took a while to reply. By the time he spoke the men had gone inside. He said quietly, 'They killed the King.'
1660, General Edward Whalley and Colonel William Goffe, father- and son-in-law, cross the Atlantic. They are on the run and wanted for the murder of Charles I. Under the provisions of the Act of Oblivion, they have been found guilty in absentia of high treason.
In London, Richard Nayler, secretary of the regicide committee of the Privy Council, is tasked with tracking down the fugitives. He'll stop at nothing until the two men are brought to justice. A reward of £100 hangs over their heads—for their capture, dead or alive.
Act of Oblivion is an epic journey across continents and a chase like no other.

Excellent historical fiction
The history is fascinating (I also read some other material to see how close to history this is - the author also relates to that in an introduction and at the end). I enjoyed that it is a different period from much of the historical fiction I listen to. The story is engaging and the performance is superb. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes historical fiction.

Vivid, atmospheric storytelling
Robert Harris tells a wonderful tale and this one, with its compelling central characters set in a dramatic historical frame is an absolute belter. Great story, great narration. Would heartily recommend.

Thrilling!
What a great book. I am a fan of Robert Harris anyway, but this is one of his best books. The characters are wonderful and the historical research obviously was thorough. Tim McInnerny’s narration is skilful and defines each character well.

Unspeakably dreary!
If the awfulness of 17th century England and the hardship and Puritanism of 17th century America is your thing, you’ll love this. I hated it - the savagery of revenge, the dreary characters, the well-nigh invisible women. And the narrator who can’t do accents and can’t do women was awful too.
