In July 1937, Amelia Earhart disappeared over the Pacific Ocean during the final leg of her attempt to fly around the world. Despite one of the most extensive search efforts in modern history, no definitive answer has ever been recorded.

AV on History: Amelia Earhart presents her disappearance as it was experienced at the time—through official reports, radio transmissions, press coverage, and the historical record as it stands today. This is not a biographical tribute, nor a speculative true-crime retelling. It is a documented investigation into what was known, what was reported, and where the record ultimately ends.

Narrated by Caesar Esturco, with dramatized performances by Rebecca Heddinger, this episode blends historical documentation with restrained dramatization to re-create the tension, uncertainty, and global attention surrounding Earhart’s final flight. The story unfolds through timelines, locations, and confirmed communications, allowing the mystery to emerge through absence rather than conjecture.

AV on History is a documentary audio series that examines pivotal historical moments that remain unresolved—not to solve them, but to present them clearly, accurately, and responsibly.

This is history as it was recorded.

And where it stopped.

Between the highly emotive narration and atmospheric sound effects, this was really easy to sink into and become lost in one of the strangest, and most tragic, mysteries of the twentieth century. I found myself gripped until the end, then wanted to look up every bit of historic detail they referenced to learn more.

Before this, I had a vague understanding that Earhart’s final trip was just sadly unlucky — but this has made me wonder whether it was truly misfortune, or actually manufactured. Excellent voice acting and overall a high-quality production…definitely worth a listen!

A thoroughly engaging mystery worth checking out

What an immersive experienc! Phenomenal performances by Caesar and Rebecca!

The sound scape and music felt well placed and strategic to engage the listener but weren't overpowering as sometimes happens in similar productions.

It could only have been better if the Unsolved Mysteries theme was included.

I need more!

Fantastic!

I picked this up after hearing Cesar and Rebecca talk about the project, and it absolutely works. The sound design places you right in the scene, and Rebecca’s performance as Amelia Earhart is especially gripping — you can feel her rising panic. Cesar’s narration ties everything together flawlessly. The blend of history and dramatization is seamless and never overdone. Short, compelling, and beautifully produced. If history class had sounded like this, I would have paid a lot more attention.

I only wish there had been more
