The time is December 1941 and World War II has just begun. Ed Karl, who is a United States Marine Gunnery Sergeant is assigned to Carlson's Raiders 2nd Raider Battalion and he and the Battalion are sent off the South Pacific, to fight the Empire of Japan, who has just bombed the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor Hawaii. This deployment separates Ed from his Wife Jeannie, who is a Navy Nurse, who also spends the rest of the War at the Hospital at Pearl Harbor and in Wellington News Zealand.. Ed and the Battalion are then engaged in many campaigns during the War on the various Islands held by the Japanese with final and bloodiest battle of the Pacific Okinawa.
