What a cliffhanger

Ahh that cliffhanger. I need to know what happened now! I did an immersive read on this and the narrator did such a great job of bringing the characters to life. I loved Katrin's growth throughout the book. I'm also secretly crushing on the reaper. (shh don't tell) I can not wait to see what happens in book 2.

Pleasantly surprised!

This is not my usual genre but I was intrigued and I’m so glad I gave it a listen. The overall storyline had this dark academia vibe with a little bit of mystery. Katrin was marked by death with shadows. She begins her search ridding herself of these shadows and to keep herself from death by bargaining with the Ferrier of Souls. She agrees to spend one year with the Ferrier in the land in between.

The Ferrier wants nothing to do with kat, but she needs something and someone to occupy her time by trying to engage him in conversation whenever she can. The tension grows as the Ferrier begins to remember what it means to care for someone else.

I really enjoyed the story line although it does leave on a big cliffhanger which now I’m intrigued and need the next book!

Ava Monroe is the voice of Katrin and does a fantastic job navigating the voice of all the characters and emotions throughout this story.

Looking forward to book two!

Reminded me a little of Beauty and the Beast

This book was so good. Kept you engaged with all the mysteries. A dark broody man turned protector and shadow magic that are also guardsmen. Not much spice but the tension between the characters definitely makes up for it and I have high hopes for book two. The audio was great too! Narrator has a good sultry voice and was good at doing the male character too!
