Angela Harrelson grew up poor, one of 13 brothers and sisters raised in a shack in the North Carolina woods. She was first in her family to go to college, first to be commissioned in the military, and first to have a career as a professional nurse. Along the way, she and her family were exposed to the harshest forms of racism - from her childhood riding the school bus with White children who made the Black kids stand, to racist commanding officers in the Air Force who told her they wanted her to fail.

Edutainment at its best!
Absolutely loved it! A true story about an African boy who made a success of his life and career. I learned about fashion. Much more than I ever knew. And I'm grateful the author never gave up and didn't allow himself to be completely lost to addictions. I enjoyed the ending just as much as the beginning. Well done.

I love all things fashion but Mr Enninful is a raw work of art. Truthfully unafraid of being anything other than human. Bravery is not a strong enough world to describe this work/ his life. A must read to understand the world we now navigate. Can an editor be prime minister? I vote Edward!

Buzzworthy. Insightful. A Must Listen
Edward Enninfil weaves through his early years in the fashion world as a writer and stylist, eventually becoming editor-in-chief of British Vogue. He shares his journey earnestly and holds nothing back.
I was always curious about how he made his way and I am impressed with the stories he shared. No spoilers here.
Enninfil has been instrumental in getting models of color more exposure in the fashion world. He features them regularly and is not shy about speaking up on the subject.
I enjoyed this book thoroughly because Enninfil covers his early family life in Ghana, his arrival in the UK, and the genesis of what has become a major career path. Take a listen. Kudos Edward Enninfil!

So entertaining from beginning to end
Listened to this with my 13 year old daughter and she loved it equally as much as I did! Edward’s journey is so interesting as he recounts the details of his life from early years to present day. Listening to the obstacles he’s overcome and the his fresh and innovative outlook on fashion made me want a subscription to British Vogue even though I’m in the US. He’s on the cutting edge of change, you’ll love the book!
