A Virtual Universe

As a result of Paul Dirac and the subsequent work of other quantum physicists, we now know that the void is home to an assortment of so-called 'virtual particles'. We also know that every particle has an antimatter equivalent which, albeit for a fleeting moment, can materialize out of nowhere if given enough energy. This essay takes a look at the world of virtual particles and also discusses some of the theories on how the universe came into being.
