An engaging and enlightening read

Cavallo’s book, “A Survivor’s Secrets,” provides an engaging and true account of human trafficking in the United States. While admittedly only one person’s account, Cavallo addresses the numerous factors contributing to her vulnerability to human trafficking, a vulnerability initially that was seemingly innocuous, and ultimately led her down a journey of becoming a victim of human trafficking. The contributing factors, described within the book as her upbringing and background that is identifiable for many within the middle-class, equally show that human trafficking does not discriminate based on age, sex, race, gender, religion, national origin, or socioeconomic class. The book also shows Cavallo’s strength in moving from victim to survivor and provides practical resources for the reader to engage in anti-trafficking efforts in an easy to read format. The book also is an easy and appealing listen on audible, if the reader so prefers.
