1939. Like everyone else in Spain, Vicenta Ripoll is struggling to adjust to life under Franco’s brutal regime. But when her husband, Eduardo, is unjustly arrested and consigned to prison in Alicante, Vicenta’s life is in turmoil. Ignoring advice she embarks on a perilous journey to find Eduardo and secure his release. Constantly under threat of arrest, and railing against the forces of fascism and anti-feminist dogma, Vicenta fights for her own survival and the right to bring up her new born child. Against all odds, Vicenta refuses to accept that Eduardo is dead and she can never forget or forgive the injustice he has suffered. Finally the truth is revealed and Vicenta is presented with an opportunity – if not for justice, then for revenge.
