Resumen del Editor

Typhoeus is a dragon. To the humans hunting him, he is nothing more than a monster, a mindless beast to be killed for levels and glory.

To him, adventurers are not that much better. Exiled from his home due to a trait on his status, and so very tired of killing adventurers on a near daily basis, Typhoeus decides to seek refuge hidden amongst the cowed remnants of humanity that populate this world.

Armed with a millennium of mystical knowledge and a powerful new skill that lets him take on the guise of a completely average human woman, the dragon must decide if he can be more than just the words on his status. Flung headfirst into a life of romance and adventure, this is his story.

The Dragon's Dilemma series is the queer romantic fantasy LitRPG mashup featuring a shapeshifting dragon, an uncaring system, sapphic love, and an ancient threat.

Relationships are hard when you’re a dragon

Typhoeus is an interesting character, despite being an immensely powerful dragon, he’s a total weakling by his races standards. Which makes his decision to hide out among humans much more sensible. His choice to masquerade as a human woman leads to some very interesting consequences. And of course there’s the human who he picks up to help with his disguise that turns into something more. This book was a fun read, with some very interesting relational dynamics, an interesting class and skil system, and an intriguing world. My only note for readers is that this book also includes very descriptive sex scenes, which could be an issue for some readers.

A good first try...

There is nothing outrageously bad about this story. I have definitely seen far worse versions of this type, however it does fall into some of the pit falls that plague self published authors. Poor to no real description of characters and places, chapters that were clearly thought of after previous chapters had already been written, and more than a few redundant sentences and paragraphs that didn't need to be there. On the bright side the story for the most part seems to have a clear goal for where it is heading, which gives it far more coherency than you usually see with this kind of thing. The romance is also pretty good. Better yet there is no over the top sexualization of every female character including the children, so that is refreshing. Yeah Typh based her form off of what essentially was porn artistry, but it is mostly seen as embarrassing on Typh's part and concerning on other's. There is sex, but it is treated far more normally than the usual hyper fixation that mostly just turns this genre in to creepy child porn, harems, or both. Lastly the author does a really good job of giving the normal OP character a real compelling personality and interesting problems, that leave you wanting to know more.
Lol i like the narrator, but her British way of pronouncing some words had me confused a few times. Like calling a Lich a Lick. Not a horrible sin but i could see a few people getting overly angry about something like.
Overall it didn't wow me, but i didn't hate it either. Meh? if you got the credit to spare and nothing better go forit.

Great story

Can't wait to see if there's another book this one was enjoyable! A great way to potentially start of a series if the author wanted.

Truly Surprised How Enjoyable This Was.

A male dragon, transforming himself to a human woman (for reasons that are quite comedic, in a good way), hiding, gaining strength, and falling in love with another woman...

Not going to lie, I was truly hesitant on trying this series. I'm all for queer and transgendered love, but STRONGLY prefer reading books where the main character is heterosexual and usually male (just being honest). Still this book was so entertaining I instantly bought book 2.

The characters are really the selling point of this series. The MC trying (and failing) to act like a woman is exacerbated with the fact that he doesn't know how to act like a human, which causes a lot of humorous moments and problems. At the same time there is the love-interest's journey in growing out of her weakness and ignorance. The villains, while not unique or complex, display levels of cruelty that are designed for you to hate.

While the drama between the characters lays at the forefront of the book, the undertones regarding the upcoming cataclysmic event is going to be decides if this series stay great. The history of the world, magic, and haunting future are well written so far.

Only negative that I can say so far about the series, is the unfairness that is targeted at one of the characters that, arguably, did all the wrong things for all the right reasons. Hopefully it's rectified in book 2.

Overall, this series is a hidden gem. Worth gambling on and experiencing something truly different and entertaining.

Interesting premise but went down hill fast

A male dragon takes on the body of a female human, continues to refer to himself as an HE in his inner monologue (which the entire book is written in). And then we get exposed to a lot of female-on-female smut, which funnily enough ends up reading quite much like the straight version.
After that explicit sex scenes repeat often enough that I grew tired of skimming through the scenes and lost interest in the novel.

Started strong then you introduced Arilla. She reminded me of listening to umbridge in HP but she’s depicted as a good guy.

I have to agree with other reviews. Arilla is just the worst. This is like reading the budding of a toxic manipulative relationship but the manipulator is constantly portrayed as right. Almost feels like you the author is trying to gaslight me into siding with Arilla when she is fundamentally flawed in all of her arguments. Tiff never out right lied to Arilla and was quite upfront that there would be secrets. Arilla happily accepted this dynamic up until she no longer needed Tiff. Then demanded tiff tell her all about her past that she was obviously not not comfortable divulging. I get you want to know more about someone you trust your life with but throwing down ultimatums and spitting in the face of someone who’s done so much for you is disgusting. The moment Arilla gets what she wants she immediately starts plotting to get more and throws a tantrum when she doesn’t immediately get it. She uses Tiffs kindness while at the same time telling Tiff that she hates her. What was Tiff supposed to do? Walk into town announce she’s a dragon and die? All to assuage Arillas hatred of lying? Get real. The most infuriating part is you depict Tiffs love as realistic, beautiful, and unconditional. This makes Arillas conditional, selfish, and ugly love all the more jarring. Worst of all Tiff accepts this like a battered wife crawling back to her abuser on repeat. I truly wish Arilla hadn’t been introduced and that the shining swords would have stuck around. Would have made for a better story. I will not be picking the second book. The narration and actual writing are great. I just can’t stand the frustration of a terrible awful character taking up the majority of the book AND being portrayed at being the one in the right. One of the most unpleasantly frustrating experiences I’ve ever listened too on Audible made all that much worse because every aspect that didn’t involve Arillas petty attitude was amazing.

I Hate Her.

This book had potential. But its biggest flaw is such an integral part of the story, that i must make a review all about it.

I cannot express in words how truly insufferable the main side character Arilla is. She owes the main character pretty much everything she has but spends the whole story playing victim. A real “Woe is me” type. It only gets worse and worse as the story goes on.

In the beginning you believe it isn’t that bad. She seems amicable albeit annoying. But her incessant whining does not stop, only increases. And you are forced as the listener to experience an actual dragon get metaphorically whipped by some backwater gutter rat. There is nothing appealing about her. Its as if her only character traits are wanting be stronger, and bitching about the only person that ever helped her achieve that. The relationship between the two characters is so one sided. Arilla says she isnt getting enough, Typh agrees and bends over backwards for her, Arilla then says it isnt enough and gets upset, and Typh bends even further. Rinse and repeat.

Even worse the climax almost had me foaming at the mouth. That this stubborn ungrateful woman causes the main character so much distress. I had such high hopes of it getting better throughout the book i even went and *read* the first act of the next book. Begging, pleading that the author doesn’t make an actual dragon some whipped husband who is in the doghouse for another book. I was disappointed.

If you want to read a book about a dragon getting gaslit into believing he’s torturing someone hes bathed in affection and getting turned into the equivalent of a submissive housewife, I recommend it. If not I implore you to look as far away from this book as possible.

Good story, bad characters

Story was decent for awhile until MC got involved with his love interest, then the story devolves with him trying to do everything to appease her, which is never enough. The MC shines when he is away from his love interest isn’t in the picture and reverts to a housewife as soon as she enters line of sight.
