Resumen del Editor

"Wholly heartwarming and enchanting." —Chloe Gong, #1 New York Times bestselling author of These Violent Delights and Our Violent Ends

New from the author of
Counting Down with You comes a sparkling YA romance about an aspiring screenwriter who falls for the indie film star who goes undercover at her school.

All Mina Rahman wants is to finally win the Golden Ivy student film competition, get into her dream school, and leave New York City behind for good. When indie film star Emmitt Ramos enrolls in her high school under a secret identity to research his next role, he agrees to star in her short film for the competition…if she acts as his NYC tour guide.

As Mina ventures across the five boroughs with Emmitt, the city she grew up in starts to look more like home than it ever has before. Suddenly, Mina’s dreams—which once seemed impenetrable—begin to crumble, and she’s forced to ask herself: Is winning worth losing everything?

Cute story, but didn't finish the audiobook

I enjoyed this book, but I did end up buying the kindle version to finish it because the narrator's voice for Emmitt was...not great. The narrator was pretty good for Mina and a lot of the book, but unfortunately she could not pull off Emmitt's voice/accent. It was very inconsistent and I could not finish the audiobook version because of it. As for the story, while not perfect, I think it was cute! Mina and Emmitt were adorable and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. Mina often got on my nerves throughout the book, but she thankfully did develop more towards the end. There were also a lot more F-bombs than I would expect from a YA book and while I was not bothered by that at all, some people may not like that in a book categorized as YA. And that's pretty much all I have to say about the book.

An Amazing Story!!!

The story was great! Beautifully written, empowering, and I believe a lot of people can resonate with the main character Mina's story. If you like YA novels with wholsome characters overcoming difficult obstacles (with some romantic comedy involved), this one's for you!

The story was bad, but that narrator is worse !!

Ok, I usually begin my reviews with the story of the book and what I thought of it before I get into the narrator, but this one deserves to be said first, in all my readings I never listened to a narrator that was so bored with the story she wasn't even bothering with anything!!..Emmitte is supposed to be British but the narrator was speaking in a squeaky 10 years old girl voice with no hint of any British accent to get us in the mood, also .. her narration is basically her whining and it was really annoying to hear .. no life to the performance or any bothering at all ..if you really need to read this book skip the audio it's really bad ..and on that note ..
I think this is my breakup book with this author because, damn.. I really can't stand her MC's at all
The story is about Mina, who dreams of attending university in California so away from her home in New York city just to get away from her controlling parents, and for that she has to win a scholarship from her filming competition, most film makers know, to get the attention you have to have someone famous in your movie, and here we meet Emmitt , he is an indie movie star who enrolls in Mina's high school to prepare for his next movie role.. Mina ask him for help and he accepts on the condition that she helps him with his photography competition (which was the most fun part of the book ) and their relationship changes over the course of that semester
Mina struck me as a kid who just learned how to swear that she can't get two sentences without swearing at anybody and everybody .. also, I never saw why Emmitt is so drawn to her .. she is selfish, rude, mean and overall a very boring person to be with .. even that ending was weird as heck .. sorry but I think I will not be reading this author again because I already read her first book and I didn't like it either ..
Dear Tashie, please leave Islam out of this mess
