What if everything you thought you knew about how the world worked was challenged?

Elizabeth “Liz” Entin considered herself a rational person who dismissed the concept of an afterlife as nothing more than wishful thinking. Shattered and lost after her dad’s unexpected death, she was moved to investigate if there was any scientific evidence of an afterlife. This exploration shook her understanding of the world to the core.

With a skeptical eye and a profound passion for understanding the inexplicable, Liz studies psychic mediums, takes classes on ghost hunting, attends a séance, attempts spoon bending and volunteers for an organization that scientifically researches mediums. When this organization holds a weekend conference, she finally gets a behind the scenes view into this world, where everything she has been studying culminates in one of the biggest WTF’s Liz has encountered. But is there actually enough evidence to prove we survive . . . that her dad is still with her?

Liz’s hilarious and honest take on the evidence behind life’s biggest mysteries is eye-opening for anyone who has ever wondered about the afterlife, but cannot be content with faith. This book will give you a reason to hope and leave you wondering what the f*ck just happened?!

For intense people who think hard (and overthink!) and just cannot find much comfort in messages of light and love following a loss, Liz’s skeptical approach is a relief. She strikes a really helpful (and hard to find) middle ground between science and grief/spirituality/healing dialogues. You really can’t know what will work for you following a devastating death, and I could see some people being like this kind of rigorous investigation of possibilities of an afterlife laced with a hardcore New Yorker’s dark humor and cursing is the absolute last thing I can handle right now. But for me personally Liz’s clear eyed nature, honesty and total lack of patience with simpler ways out of grief has been like water in a desert! I am too nonconfrontational/sad/broke to take on this kind of investigation, but I’ve really needed it thave the will to keep living. Even if it turns out we just die and are dead as fuck, Liz’s work got me back into life when I needed to get back. Like a bridge. Maybe of delusion, maybe of hope. Whatever the case now I’m kind of ok.
