Resumen del Editor

Classic Western adventure from America's favorite storyteller, Louis L'Amour.

Louis L'Amour brings you the Wild West as you've never heard it before. This classic story, complete with a full cast, stirring music, and authentic sound effects, sweeps listeners back to the rough and tumble days of the Old West: when men put their lives on the line for the sake of honor, and truth and justice were fought on the open plain.

Scott Miles and his son Billy are on their way to a new life in New Mexico, but fate deals them a bad hand in the deceptive currents of the Missouri River. Their wagon nearly splintered, one mule of their team lost in the river, Scott and his boy have almost no chance of joining the last wagon train heading out before winter closes in. But Scott wasn't counting on a miracle in the form of a strong-willed woman and the unwavering faith of a young boy.

A Long Ways to Santa Fe

A different style for notable writer Louis L'Amour who captivates his western books readers. This is more of a romance than western book and the author's son, Beau is one of his greatest admirers as he puts forward a dramatization of a popular tale. Miles Scott and his son Billy are headed for Santa Fe as the story commences and Billy, at almost fourteen, is allowed to take the wagon and six-mule team across the Missouri only to get into serious trouble as they lose a mule to the vagaries of a deceptive mountain river and the loss of the one mule. They discover that, in seeking a mule to replace the lost one, at the end of the calendar for escorting parties, difficulties emerge that neither father nor son could anticipate. An exciting book in its own way--its full of love and romance (oops)--romance then love, L'Amour has created a love affair for Billy that could only lead to Scott's asking for Laura's hand in marriage.

Very different from LL short story

Its not terrible but the storyline is completely different from the orginal short story except a mule ia needed. As a history buff the language is too modern for what would have been spoken then and how LL would have phrased. Some actressess in these dramaizations are too Hollywood squeals and breathy kind. As oppossed to the quality of the audiobook like Cherokee Trail and ts female narrator.

re-write

This story is not the story written by Louis L'amour. It has been totally re-written.
This story is so-so as it is nowhere as good as the original.
