But when a newly published novel—Pride and Prejudice—finds its way into her hands, fiction begins to awaken truths that propriety had long held in check. Over four quiet days in London, Eliza must confront the question she thought already settled: Is affection to be grown from reason alone, or must the heart be allowed its say?
