A King's Ransom

Bronwyn Dumont lives a simple, quiet life in the small village of Dowgarth. But she dreams of life outside the confines of her tiny town. She fantasizes about grand feasts, jolly festivals and dashing knights. But her dreams of adventure seem likely to remain that of fairy tales until the day the King's men come to collect taxes. Being unable to pay the hefty fees, Bronwyn is dragged off to the castle to become a ward of the King until the fees can be paid in full. She escapes the gloomy underbelly of the castle with the most unlikely of companions, and adventures beyond her wildest dreams begin to unfold. Along the way she meets Elric, who is more than willing to help her on her journey. But is he all he seems to be? Or does he have a dark secret of his own?
