Walter Whitman Olivier was a unique writer with the extraordinary ability to communicate the stories of spirits he encountered. Growing up in Shadow Falls, he left the town but returned after his estranged father's death. He inherited a beautiful home from his maternal grandfather, located at the base of a waterfall.

Surrounded by spirits that communicated with him mentally, Walter was drawn to the old Visceral Hills Orphanage, a place steeped in legends and spirits where his grandfather had lived until he was 18. Driven by curiosity, Walter explored the orphanage's dilapidated rooms and, after discovering the body of a young girl, felt a new purpose: to help and tell the stories of the spirits he encountered.
