A very controversial angle.

A possible conversation starter, but be careful.

The book starts off well. the intent is to show the hand of the British in Nigeria. And more importantly how a lot of ethnic groups never had problems and should not be having problems before the British with each other.

A particular romanticizing of Obafemi Awolowo and other post-independence leaders damage a good part of the book. Ommsions of their damages are also glaring. Only Nnamdi Azikwe of the Igbo stock does he bash.

It's a tricky position to try and thread. But the intention of a untied Southern Nigeria is well-intentioned. The methods are hard to sallow. As it should be for good reason.

Excellent!

This is a well-researched documentation of the history of Nigeria. The book is really deep on pre-independence history but light on post-colonial history, especially after the civil war. The use of British sources is particularly helpful to shed light on certain aspects of colonial history. In reading the book, there is an attempt to distinguish African and European accents. Consider pronouncing the names of people and places better. Audiobooks are an important contribution to the preservation of correct pronunciation of African languages and landmarks.
